On this special day I remember getting the very first maypole approved to be celebrated in a prison in the United States. The photo shown is the 10th anniversary of that event.<\/p>\n
On the first Beltane celebration in prison after a ten year battle to get it approved, several correctional officers and staff joined inmates to twine their ribbons together that day. It was a moment in history!
\nI still have that pole and those ribbons.<\/p>\n
